South West Driving School Announces Loss Of Around £1.2 Million in October Alone!

Hartley Logistics' subsidary, South West Driving School, is a HGV training school which provides truckers in the South-West of the country a Category C+E licence. However, in October alone, the company has announced a loss of £1.2 Million. Company spokesperson Andy Cullinan said "the two leading factors to our losses this month alone are due to company competition and brexit uncertainty."

Many companies in England and Wales have had prices increase due to brexit, however South West Driving School's price increase per hour for lessons hasn't been enough recently to match other HGV driving schools.

Andy continued to say "We are in a very awkward position. Operating costs are at an all time high and lowering prices too much could result in us landing in serious financial issues and it feels like our parent company doesn't care!"

CEO for Hartley Logistics, Dominic Hartley had this to say;

"We feel like sometimes it just isn't worth pumping money into a business venture that isn't going to make us that money back. We will be working on a new strategy that hopefully will mean a different financial outcome by the end of January but at this current stage, we aren't too sure where to go."

Accountants have stated that if nothing is done for South West Driving School financially in the next month, the company may fold. However this isn't bad for the staff as they are all Hartley Logistics experienced truck drivers when they aren't teaching students and so will not be affected if the driving school did collapse. As for the accountants, they work for Hartley Logistics full time anyway.

Dominic continued with;

"We will do all we can to help the driving school as it is our best way to train our drivers and provide great opportunities such as for every driver who passes their Category C+E on their first or second attempt will be offered a full time trucker job with Hartley Logistics."
